Fox Film Corporation

In 1913, William Fox founded two companies, Greater New York Film Rental, a distribution firm, which was part of the Independents, and Fox (or Box, depending on the source) Office Attractions Company, a production company. In 1915 he merged them to Fox Film Corporation (see Vertical Integration). In 1917 the company moved to Hollywood. During World War I, Fox was the leading production company in the USA. William Fox lost control over the company after the 1929 stock market crash.
