Subway Sandwich
Subway is the trade name of a multinational franchising company selling sandwiches and salads. The corporate parent of Subway is Doctor's Associates, based in Connecticut, USA. In the late 1990s, Subway overtook the McDonald's Corporation as the fast food chain with the most sites in the USA. Many restaurant analysts attribute this to the growing concern on health by restaurant customers, a trend that Subway has taken advantage in its marketing. The company takes its name from the submarine sandwich, so named for its shape, which was shortened to sub. The chain punningly uses the New York Subway, a metro system, as its decorative motif, and has a sandwich named the BMT for one of New York's subway lines.
